ABOUT
NICK DAMON
I had a great childhood. I grew up Brady Bunchy and had two of the best parents a guy could have. And both extremely artistic.
My dad is Henry Alvarez, owner of Alvarez Wax Productions. He's made a mark in every area of sculpting from wax figures to bronze busts to city monuments to creature fx in film.
During his time in the special fx field, he worked for Rob Bottin, who was someone that also pushed the art to its limits. Together, they lent their talents to classic F/X films such as "The Thing", the "Robocop" films, "Total Recall", and "Legend".
This meant that I was lucky enough to see (and play around with) weird props and set pieces which I'll always remember fondly. Nothing like making a decapitated head come alive in your grubby little hands!
So you can imagine I saw a lot that inspired me.
I've dabbled in just about every art form myself: Sculpting, Pencil/Ink, Paint, Charcoal and am now really excited about Digital work.
On top of all that, I'm also writing. I've written a dozen screenplays for film, one of which was made last year (Hunter Prey) and now have two more that may start filming this year.
I'm also working on several novels. Maybe they'd get done if all these great videogames would stop coming out!!!
I'll probably be starting a blog soon to post short stories or something. Maybe novelize a couple of screenplays that are sitting around. We'll see.
Please check out my site and I hope you enjoy all the hard work!
I do commissions, so feel free to contact me.
Thanks!
Nick Damon
PS
One time when I was a kid, my dad took in one of my sketch pads to show his coworkers my stuff and Rob Bottin was cool enough to share some thoughts and advice. I thought I'd share them here too. (it's long, so keep scrolling)
